Our (Approximate) Route

While planning our round-the-world (or RTW as we have learned it is called) trip, we quickly realized that we can neither see everything we want nor plan as much as we would usually try to.  Our compromise is that we bought our RTW tickets (for us, a series of one-way tickets) that serve as our major "dates" - we know we have to fly to certain places on certain days.  In between, we have tried to plan some accommodations when we feel it is necessary (busy season, etc), but also leave room for lots of spontaneity.
Huge shout-out to our buddies at BootsNAll who helped us buy these tickets for far less than I would have imagined. They have a great tool on their website called Indie (http://indie.bootsnall.com) that lets you put in routes with incredible flexibility.
Here is our approximate "route" - although many of these tickets haven't been purchased, because we will get last-minute tickets, or drive/bus/ferry/train to many of these places, but it gives an idea of where we plan to go.  BTW, we reserve the right to totally change parts of this - but it is what we are hoping for as we begin this journey:
